Intensive Care

Intensive Care

When All Pets Animal Hospital was being designed, our veterinarians knew the importance of having an observation area for critical patients. The ICU is centrally located in the hospital for constant attention for the pets that require continuous eye contact and treatment.

Our in-house lab allows us to quickly monitor our pets’ internal health status and our air circulation system, which isolates areas of our hospital, provides protection for fragile cases.

Depending upon the reason for a pet being in our ICU, formal exams are performed on a specific frequency basis, but the informal checks are ongoing throughout the patient’s stay. We provide 24-hour nursing care as our technicians are on staff through the night.

In addition to its centralized location, the ICU is equipped with life-saving technology, including:

  • Oxygen Delivery System
For pets needing respiratory assistance, our oxygen delivery system can be utilized in any of the ICU kennels.
  • IV Fluid Pumps
Providing the proper balance of electrolytes and fluids to seriously ill pets is critical to the recovery process.
  • Heat Support
Pets who have undergone a shock to their systems either due to illness or injury often require additional heat to stabilize their condition.
  • Portable ECG
Critical patients often need their heart monitored to ensure they are progressing through recovery.
  • Doppler Blood Pressure Measurement

All Pets Animal Hospital & 24-Hour Emergency Care maintains the practices and technologies necessary for expert critical care. Please contact us with any of your questions regarding our ICU abilities.

A crucial part of our emergency hospital is our Intensive Care Unit. After your pet has been examined and a plan developed for their care, they may need constant care and monitoring for a period of time. These pets are admitted into our ICU for specialized critical care and monitoring by our emergency doctors and critical care nurses. The amount of time spent in ICU depends upon the severity of the illness and amount of care required to get them through a severe illness.

Our veterinarians and support staff are highly trained and here to help 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have advanced training in emergency, trauma-based and critical care protocols, which ensures your pet is in the most capable hands and never alone. Our facility includes an emergency dog hospital and cat hospital to make our furry four legged canine and feline friends as comfortable as possible. For pets who come to us with a medical emergency, once they have been stabilized, they will be moved to our ICU for monitoring and continued care as necessary until they are able to return home with you.

Treatments Available In Our Pet ICU

Our pet ICU contains modern veterinary medical equipment and technology, as well as highly experienced staff members trained to deal with any medical needs. This allows our pet ICU to offer many specialized treatment options including:

  • Complete diagnostic lab for immediate test results
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Pulse-Oximetry, End-Tidal CO2, blood pressure and continuous ECG monitoring

ICU Surgical Recovery

At All Pets Animal Hospital & 24 Hour Emergency Care, we are able to perform a wide variety of surgical procedures including orthopedic, cancer and emergency surgeries. Many of these patients will require intensive care post operatively. Our ICU is equipped and staffed to aid our patients in a gentle, safe and painfree recovery. After surgery, these patients are admitted into our ICU facility to optimize the recovery process. Our veterinary doctors and technicians will care for your pet as if it was their own to insure a gentle surgical recovery and in preparation for their return home.

When Can Your Pet Leave The ICU?

Your companion should stay in pet urgent care until its medical conditions have stabilized, and the in-home care you can provide will be sufficient to support them through the rest of their recovery. We do not like to keep animals away from their families any longer than absolutely necessary, but it is important to understand that intensive care and monitoring may be necessary after some surgical procedures and medical emergencies. Our goal is to make sure that your beloved companion can return home safely and enjoy a full recovery.

While everyone hopes to avoid an emergency situation with their pet, we are here for you during the time when you need us. At All Pets Animal Hospital & 24 Hour Emergency Care we are committed to providing the highest quality veterinary care when you and your pet when us most.
